Hello!

We are officially ten days from Halloween, which means you only have a week and a half left to finish hot gluing those oversized butt pads into the hockey pants you bought at Dick’s Sporting Goods, or to source exactly the right elf ears to go with your blonde wig, black turtleneck, and homemade Theranos ID badge. You should also try to buy some candy if you haven’t yet, because before too long all that’s going to be left at the store is a six-pound bag of Dots and then you’ll be the pariah of the neighborhood. What a fun season this is, huh?

My neighborhood is already quite Halloween mad; there are so many enormous skeletons littered around various brownstones that you’d think a college volleyball team’s plane crashed on Clinton Street. But enough about Halloween! We have other things to talk about before that most accursed holiday befalls us. (On a fuckin’ Saturday, no less. Board up your homes, folks, lest some drunk Vanderbilt grad in a soiled Carolyn Bessette wig comes crashing through your window.)

If you happen to be in Savannah, Georgia on Thursday, October 29, the Critical Darlings podcast (which I co-host) will be recording a live Oscar special for the SCAD Film Festival. I will, of course, have a paper bag over my head, but it would still be great to see you. Or, to have you see me with a bag on my head. I won’t be seeing anything except the inside of the bag.

Tomorrow, Critical Darlings will post our episode about You Can See Everything. We have a great guest lined up and it should be a lively conversation, so give it a listen when it drops on Thursday morning. And if you haven’t seen the movie yet, what are you doing reading this?? Get to a movie theater asap!

On the topic of movie theaters, on Friday I’ll have some proper recommendations for you. But I thought today I’d talk about a movie I can’t in good conscience advise you to see, but that you might be curious about anyway.
